Maintaining your Lumi products
Many across the UK and Ireland have taken advantage of the extra time at home during these last few years to do maintenance work or start new DIY projects.
We’d like to take this opportunity to provide you with a quick guide to keep your doors and windows looking as new as the day you got them.
How to maintain windows and doors
Painted surfaces, GRP and foiled frames should be cleaned once a month using a soft camel hair brush to remove loose grit and dirt before wiping the door or window surface with a soft cloth, using warm water and a mild detergent.
We strongly recommend avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasives as these can damage your door or windows and will invalidate your guarantee.
Window and door furniture should be wiped with a soft cloth soaked in warm water and a mild detergent once a month.
The mechanical parts of your doors and windows should be lightly oiled bi-annually.
We recommend lubricating the locking systems bi–annually by applying grease to the hooks, deadbolt, face of the latch and the sides of the rollers. The roller slots should be oiled with a general lubricant. You can lubricate the cylinder by spraying a silicone or graphite-based lubricant into the cylinder twice a year. Never use grease or cooking oil in the cylinder.
How to maintain windows and doors accessories
Maintaining door and window handles, door letterboxes and knockers, or window vents requires minimal effort; just wipe them with a soft cloth soaked in warm water and mild detergent. The trick is remembering to do it!
